General procedures should be followed in the handling of all chemicals with specific procedures for chemical hazard groups eg toxins, flammables.
The purpose of your health and safety policies and procedures manual is to promote awareness and proper behaviour within your organisation, developing work ethics and management systems that encourage safe handling practices with the highest values being placed on integrity and the health and safety of workers and the natural environment.
Your manual should be made readily available for viewing by all employees, at all times. Manuals should be reviewed and updated as required, in accordance with government legislation and company requirements.
Paragon have the knowledge and ability to create documentation specific to your business cleaning function.
The recent changes to Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) introduced several Risk and Safety Phrase changes. Risk (R) Phrases are now Hazard Statements providing an improved definition of a hazard. Safety Phrases are expanded – Precautionary (P) Statements are more detailed, for example the quality of gloves.
Overall, the chemical threshold of product classification has been lowered so this expands the numbers of products which will carry an element of risk and be included under a hazard category eg trigger sprays. Assessments are on the total risk, not just a single raw material. As a result there will be a significant increase in products displaying a Hazard Warning symbol.
Risk Assessments will need to be re-done as many products have newly identified hazards under the new rules for classification.
It is essential to carry our regular cleaning of kitchen extraction and ventilation systems as determined by appropriate risk assessment. Failure to do so could lead to a breach of Environmental Health regulations and could invalidate your Fire Insurance policy.
We provide certification on our deep cleaning work which may prove beneficial when demonstrating effective hygiene and safety to environmental health officers, fire officers, insurance risk assessors and within your own organisation.
